Arthur Edward Knox
Arthur Edward Knox (28.12.1808- 23.12.1886) war ein britischer Sportler, Amateur-Naturforscher und Autor von drei Büchern.
A. E. Knox machte seinen M.A. am Brasenose College der Universität Oxford. Er wurde Offizier im Second Regiment of Life Guards, aus dem er um 1835 ausschied, als er Lady Jane Parsons, eine Tochter von Lawrence Parsons, 2nd Earl of Rosse, heiratete.
A. E. Knox war ein Gentleman vom Lande, der in Sussex und Surrey lebte und Notizen für The Zoologist beisteuerte. Sein 1849 erschienenes Buch Ornithological Rambles in Sussex erhielt eine positive Rezension von seinem Freund und Landnachbarn Bishop Wilberforce, was den Verkauf des Buches förderte, so dass 1850 eine zweite Auflage und 1855 eine dritte Auflage erschien. Im November 1858 wurde Knox einer der Gründer der British Ornithological Union. Für sein 1872 erschienenes Buch Autumns on the Spey, das sich mit dem Lachsfischen und der Pirsch in der Umgebung des Flusses Spey befasst, gab es positive Kritiken; das Buch basiert auf Briefen, die Knox an Freunde in England schrieb, als er sich während mehrerer Herbste auf Gordon Castle als Gast von Charles Gordon-Lennox, 6. Herzog von Richmond aufhielt.
Wolf lieferte vier Illustrationen für Game Birds and Wild Fowl, their Friends and their Foes (1850) sowie jeweils vier Illustrationen für Ornithological Rambles in Sussex (1855) und Autumns on the Spey (1872).

A. E. Knox graduated M.A. from Brasenose College in the University of Oxford. He obtained a commission in the Second Regiment of Life Guards, from which he resigned about 1835 when he married Lady Jane Parsons, a daughter of Lawrence Parsons, 2nd Earl of Rosse.
A. E. Knox was a country gentleman who lived in Sussex and Surrey and contributed notes to The Zoologist. His 1849 book Ornithological Rambles in Sussex received a favourable review from his friend and country-neighbour, Bishop Wilberforce, helping the sale of the book so that a second edition appeared in 1850 and a third edition in 1855. In November 1858 Knox became one of the founders of the British Ornithological Union. There were favourable reviews for his 1872 book Autumns on the Spey dealing with salmon-fishing and deer-stalking in the vicinity of the River Spey; the book is based upon letters written by Knox to friends in England when he was staying, during several autumns, at Gordon Castle as a guest of Charles Gordon-Lennox, 6th Duke of Richmond.
